Millennium Machine & Tool, Inc., Newton, Kansas, has recently installed two
Haas EC400 high-speed horizontal machining centers (HMC). The company, which is a full-service machine shop, started in 1998 with three owners (Kris Wondra, Eric Calbert and Brian Franz) in an 1800-sq.-ft. building.
Today, the company operates with 40 employees working two shifts in a 30,000-sq.-ft. facility in Newton (Just north of Wichita). This includes 5,400-sq.-ft. of brand new warehouse space. The two new Haas HMCs were needed to keep up with Millennium's growth and to increase productivity. The HMCs feature 12,000 rpm spindles, 40 tool changers and a 20" x 20" x 20" capacity.
The new machine tools bring the company's CNC machine tool count up to 18. All but one are made by Haas. These include 5 CNC lathes, 11 CNC vertical mills and 2 horizontal machining centers. The company also has a sinker EDM.
"We have been very satisfied with our Haas equipment," stated Kris Wondra. "The quality is good, their standard prices include many extras and the service is excellent."
Millennium works with most metals and plastics and can handle everything from prototypes to large runs. The maximum cube space is 20" x 50".
"We work hard to deliver quality work, on time and at a good price," commented Eric Calbert. "We are very flexible and can implement changes quickly."
Brian Franz noted that the three owners (all natives of Newton) have over 50 years of experience in manufacturing. Millennium serves numerous industries in mid-America including: motorcycle; agriculture; aircraft; recreation; racing and injection molding. Full-service polishing is also offered.
The company works with SolidWorks and MasterCAM software.
